Lesson 446: The Brooklyn Bridge
0 WPM100% Accuracy0:00 Time
Start typing
When the Brooklyn Bridge opened in New
York on May 24, 1883, it was the
longest suspension bridge in the world.
John Roebling designed it, and his son,
Washington, took over. But Washington
became very ill, so his wife, Emily,
learned engineering and carried his
instructions to the workers. She was
the first to ride across the finished
bridge!
