An eisteddfod is a Welsh festival of

poetry, music and dance. The first one

we know of was held at Cardigan Castle

in 1176. Today the National Eisteddfod

of Wales takes place every August,

mostly in the Welsh language. The best

poet wins a carved chair, and children

have their own eisteddfod too.
