In Medina, the Prophet, peace be upon

him, used to stand by the trunk of a

date palm when he gave the Friday

sermon. One day, a pulpit was made for

him. When he stood on it, the old trunk

began to cry like a small child! The

Prophet came down and put his hand on

it, and slowly it grew quiet. He said

it cried because it missed hearing the
