The Qur'an tells that before her son

Isa was born, Maryam went to a place

far away. Tired and alone, she sat by a

palm tree. A voice called to her: "Do

not grieve. Your Lord has placed a

stream beneath you. Shake the trunk of

the palm tree toward you, and it will

drop fresh, ripe dates on you. So eat

and drink and be glad."
