A hungry man came to the Prophet, peace

be upon him. "Who will host this guest

tonight?" the Prophet asked. A man from

Medina took him home, but there was

only enough food for his children. He

and his wife put the children to sleep

and let the lamp go out. In the dark,

they pretended to eat, and the guest

ate his fill. The Qur'an praises those

who put others first, even when in need

(59:9).
