Marmaduke Pickthall was an English
writer, born in 1875. As a young man,
he traveled in the Middle East and
learned Arabic. In 1917, he became a
Muslim. Later he spent years putting
the meaning of the Qur'an into English.
His book, "The Meaning of the Glorious
Koran," came out in 1930. It was the
first such translation by an English
Muslim, and many people still read it
today.
