When the Muslims came to Medina, there

was only one well with sweet water: the

well of Rumah. The Prophet, peace be

upon him, asked, "Who will buy the well

of Rumah and share its water with the

Muslims, for something better in

Paradise?" Uthman, one of his

companions, bought it with his own

money. From then on, everyone could

take water from it. (Tirmidhi)
