Have you ever wondered why Americans
write "color" but the British write
"colour"? Much of it comes from Noah
Webster. In 1828, he published a big
American dictionary with about 70,000
words. He liked simpler spellings, so
"centre" became "center" and "honour"
became "honor." Many of his spellings
are still used in the U.S. today.
