Grace Darling lived in a lighthouse on

the Farne Islands, off the coast of

England, where her father was the

keeper. Early on September 7, 1838, in

a terrible storm, she saw a ship that

had hit the rocks. Some people were

still holding on to a rock! Grace and

her father rowed their small boat

through the wild waves to reach them.

In the end, nine people were saved.
