Thomas Edison was one of the greatest
inventors in history. In 1877, at his
lab in Menlo Park, New Jersey, he built
the phonograph, a machine that could
record sound. The first words he
recorded were "Mary had a little lamb."
In 1879, he and his team made an
electric light bulb that could glow for
hours. In the end, he had 1,093 U.S.
patents. People called him "the Wizard
of Menlo Park."
